Dear Colleagues!

A special issue of the journal “Bulletin of the Eurasian International University” is dedicated to the 35th anniversary of creative activity and the 50th anniversary of the birth of the People's Artist of the Kyrgyz Republic, laureate of the Toktogul State Prize, owner of the Order of Dostyk, II degree of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Doctor of Art History, Professor Roza Amanova.

Let’s dwell a little on the characterization of such a talented and universally recognized person as Roza Amanova.  She was recognized as a public figure, scholar, educator, director, musician, performer of poems, songs, epics, virtuoso playing komuzovye kuu and her inspired works. All this is accompanied by the sincere admiration of the people, and especially that Roza Amanova is a scientist working on the preservation and dissemination of traditional music of the Kyrgyz.

Love of music, singing, and unique manner of performance were characteristic from the very beginning of her creative activity. She received her musical education by studying at the music school. Murataaly Kurenkeev, and later at the National Conservatory, where she specialized in komuz. In her singing activities, Roza Amanova received special incentives for improvement after getting acquainted with outstanding akyns such as Estebes Tursunaliyev, Asek Zhumabaev and Bolush Madazimov.

Roza Asanovna made a great contribution to Kyrgyz traditional music, in particular when performing small epics and dastans. She is the only performer of the whole epic “Kurmanbek” accompanied by the komuz. The peculiarity of her performance is that she sang a large epic work, composing a melody corresponding to each character of the epic “Kurmanbek”.

As a talented teacher and mentor, she has raised students who perform not only in the Kyrgyz Republic but also outside it, pleasing them with victories in various music competitions. With some of her pupils Roza Asanovna created a group «Marzhan», which together with her performs Kyrgyz folk songs, dastans at various concerts and festivals. She led the Komuzchular club, working at the Kyrgyz National Conservatory and the Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University. She actively collaborates with foreign cultural figures, so her repertoire includes Kazakh, Turkish works and songs of the Kyrgyz people of China. People's Artist of Kyrgyzstan Roza Amanova has performed in many countries around the world, including India, the USA, Turkey, France and other countries, participating in various music venues.

Thanks to her initiative and contribution to the cultural life of the Kyrgyz people, Roza Amanova (2004) founded the public foundation “Kyrgyz Traditional Music”, which annually from April 25 holds the Week of Traditional Music of the Kyrgyz Republic according to the Decision of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic, Resolution of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic, Resolution of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic dated 18.04.2013 №3027-V. During this period, conditions are created in the Kyrgyz Republic not only for transmitting the ethno-cultural heritage of the Kyrgyz to a new generation, popularizing traditional music among young people, but also for studying their spiritual content from a scientific point of view. At the same time, the following are held at various venues: lectures, master classes of bearers of the musical heritage of Kyrgyz culture, music competitions, film presentations, international scientific and practical conferences, congresses, symposiums, traditional exhibitions and fairs, large gala concerts and other thematic cultural events. The main merit of the public foundation is that the art of telling the epic “Manas”, poetic works - dastans, and the poetic competition of akyns-improvisers - aitysh are heard throughout the world. Since every genre of musical art, every piece of oral folk art of the Kyrgyz people was named a masterpiece by UNESCO and was included in the honorary lists of organizations.

So, under her leadership, the Week of Traditional Music of the Kyrgyz Republic and major scientific events have been held in Kyrgyzstan for the 19th year: the 8th International Congress of Music and Dance, the 8th Symposium of the International Council on Traditional Music ICTM in 2019-2022. A rich creative approach and modern vision allowed Roza Asanovna to establish relationships with the largest musical institutions - Conservatories, Institutes of Art History of the above-mentioned countries.

Roza Amanov, guided by the ideas of deep study of the specifics of music as a kind of art and as a kind of spiritual activity, national music culture, various forms of musical activity, Music theory, the way music functions in society, contributed to the organization of a special institution. In the same year, Decree of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic dated July 24, 2019, UP №96 “On Komuz Day” was issued as an integral part of the spiritual culture of the Kyrgyz people. Now, every year on September 9, Komuz Day is celebrated in the Kyrgyz Republic.
