95th anniversary of the writer Chingiz Aitmatov
On December 16, 2023, the Eurasian International University, together with the Medical and Pharmaceutical College, held an event dedicated to the memory of the outstanding Kyrgyz writer Chingiz Torekulovich Aitmatov, who would have celebrated his 95th birthday on this day.
Students and teachers of both educational institutions gathered in the assembly hall to jointly celebrate the life and work of Ch. Aitmatov, whose works left an indelible contribution to world literature.
Chingiz Aitmatov was a philosopher and writer of a new type, who happily combined the best achievements of his predecessors with the high traditions of world culture. His dream was that his works would bring into the hearts and minds of people the light of humanity, goodness and faith in man, and would sing with renewed vigor the atmosphere of dialogue and tolerance, the beautiful and sublime in life.
The event began with a moving video presentation dedicated to the life and achievements of Chingiz Aitmatov. Next, the students were divided into several groups. Each of them acted out a scene based on a specific work in order to convey the life meanings invested by the writer: the desire for knowledge and freedom (“The First Teacher”), love, life and betrayal (“My Poplar in a Red Scarf”), the importance of the memory of one’s ancestors ( “The Legend of Mankurt”), the will to live and faith in the future (“Tales of Mountains and Steppes”).
The administration of the Eurasian International University expressed the hope that such initiatives will help preserve the legacy of Chingiz Torekulovich Aitmatov and inspire students to study his work and personality.
