Guest lecture - Fuat Kocyigit

On March 27, 2024, a guest lecture was given in English on the topic: “The latest statistical research in medical science.” Lecturer: Dr. Fuat Kocyigit, who specializes in sports medicine.
In his speech, Dr. Fuat Kocyigit noted that “Huge emerging problems in sports cardiology are overtraining and doping abuse in elite athletes, leading to the development of excessive cardiac hypertrophy with an increased risk of cardiovascular adverse outcomes. In addition, the higher prevalence of sudden cardiac death in athletes compared with sedentary participants, especially in athletes with known or suspected cardiovascular disease, has necessitated rigorous research into athlete's heart syndrome. The development, type and severity of cardiac hypertrophy varies depending on the type of sport and training regimen. The significance of the problem is further emphasized when cohort studies present differences in survival through cardiovascular parameters between athletes, sedentary subjects and patients with cardiovascular disease. In this review, we aimed to present the latest physiological and clinical views regarding athlete's heart syndrome, as well as its distinction from sedentary cardiac changes and pathological hypertrophy, and its relationship with sudden cardiac death."
The meeting ended with questions and answers.
